USDA and Mr. Lyster Dewey
The U.S. Dept of Agriculture has conducted perhaps the most exhaustive, comprehensive research on industrial hemp than any other organization on the planet. For over 40 years, Lyster Dewey, a chief scientist and botanist at USDA, dedicated much of his professional life to the study of this plant. Mr. Dewey grew hemp for USDA study on government land called Arlington Farms....
Some have contended that cannabis originated in China and made its way to Egypt via India. However, cannabis was found in the royal tombs of the pyramids, which predates trade between Egypt and India by thousands of years.
A more likely scenario is that the Ancient Chinese took cannabis with them when they left Africa. This assertion is based on an international, five-year study of the migration of modern man that found that Chinese people originated from early humans in East Africa. The research team, led by Jin Li of Fudan University in Shanghai, included researchers from Russia, India, Brazil and other nations.
